Former IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook, now 40 years old, has officially announced that he will return to the ring later this year. The British boxer, who holds a professional record of 40 wins and 3 losses with 28 knockouts, has not fought since his victory over long-time rival Amir Khan in February 2022.
Brook was previously linked to a potential exhibition bout against Eisa Al Dah in Dubai, which was expected to serve as a tribute to Ricky Hatton. However, those plans did not materialize. Despite that setback, Brook has stayed committed to training and has regained top physical condition, fueling his desire to compete again.
Speaking about his return, Brook revealed that a major fight announcement is on the way. He confirmed that he has secured a British Boxing Board of Control licence and is officially coming out of retirement to compete professionally once more.
Although he has not disclosed the name of his opponent, Brook hinted that fans will not have to wait much longer for details. He assured supporters that the bout is nearly finalized and will take place before the end of the year.
The Sheffield fighter also shared that he plans to compete at either middleweight or super middleweight. This has led to speculation that he could face fellow British boxer Chris Eubank Jr., who is also preparing for a return following his defeat to Conor Benn last year.
When asked directly about a possible clash with Eubank Jr., Brook remained cautious, saying that anything is possible but no confirmation can be given yet. He emphasized that an official announcement will be made soon.
Brook concluded by stating that he is currently training every day and feels sharper than ever, promising fans another big fight as he steps back into the ring.
